Portfolio assessment is an ongoing process involving learners and their instructors in selecting samples of student work for inclusion in a collection, the main purpose of which is to show the progress of learners. Included in this digest are definitions, what goes into portfolios, intended outcomes of using portfolios, value of portfolios in motivating and involving students in their own learning, standards for a portfolio assessment system, and extensive references.
