Abstract:
Report on the nature and uses of standardized tests in English as a Second Language and Adult Basic Education. Eight standardized tests or test systems are reviewed. Common questions about use of standardized tests are answered. Topics include negative gain, general and specific literacy, item response theory, predictive validity, alternative assessment, and meeting State and federal requirements.
