Abstract:
This report examines the applications of the Multiple Intelligence Theory to adult literacy education. The work of Dr. Howard Gardner describes eight kinds of intelligence that interrelate to form a profile: naturalist, intrapersonal, interpersonal, musical, bodily-kinesthetic, spatial-visual, logical-mathematical, and linguistic. The report describes a study in which adult literacy educators developed and tried MI-based practices. Implications for improving adult literacy education given.
