Intermediate and advanced students learn about inventions and inventors through jigsaw reading and follow up by writing a paragraph and/or making an oral presentation about an important invention or inventor.

This site offers lessons/activities using both well-known and rather obscure holidays. Each offers a transcript with an MP3 audio file for listening practice, and some or all of following activities: a phrase match, a listening gap fill, a correct word choice, multiple choice, spelling, organizing the text, scrambled sentences, discussion, and writing. Often our students have questions, even after classes. Flexi, an AI tutor, is offered by CK-12 to assist students with any questions they may have 24/7 anywhere, on any device. Flexi uses AI but it also has a large selection of courses in Math and Science to answer questions. Answers can include links to background information  (lesson from CK-12) on the question asked. Students can ask questions in other topic areas from AI.

In this activity, have the class explore a variety of questions and write a reflection on how they see themselves using Flexi.

In this activity, students are given a weekly set of vocabulary words to study. Each day a different activity is introduced to help students learn the vocabulary. The week ends with a Flippity Quiz Show game and quiz.

Honing their 21st Century Skills of global awareness and teamwork, students work in teams, role-playing international business consultants. Their job is to create a presentation for a group of American business people relocating to another country (students’ native country or a country assigned to them) about business customs and etiquette in that country, especially as they differ from that of the USA.

 

Students will be able to introduce themselves to the class by creating a fun and engaging animated video, with their own synced dialogue, which can include an avatar of themselves.

In this activity, students will use the Internet to select or are assigned to find information about a fantastic place in the USA, such as a national park or monument, take notes, and create a visual aide (a Word document or PowerPoint with images). Students will then copy/paste their assignment into an AI application for revision and edit suggestions. As a class the revisions are weighed, discussed, examined and determined it they are useful or not. Discuss the value of AI.

Wolffram Alpha is a search engine that compares anything. In this activity students will work on using comparatives.
