- Adult Education Included in California EdTech Conferences
- Community Model of Online Learning Pilot Deemed a Success
- Adult Literacy XPRIZE
- Technology and Distance Learning Plan – Learners Use Technology
The Executive Director, John Fleischman writes: “A new federal National Education Technology Plan was released in mid-December. The 2016 Plan, Future Ready Learning: Reimagining the Role of Technology in Education, offers an expanded vision of equity and all-the-time learning. That vision is especially relevant to the population we serve: adult learners who often do not have the dedicated time and wherewithal to access learning resources. But that is changing thanks to increasing access to learning resources via mobile technologies.
Not surprisingly, upwards of 75% of California adult learners have smartphones. For many learners, that is their sole path to Internet-based information. Fortunately there is an increasing awareness of the potential of mobile learning technologies, as documented by several new national reports and the recently launched Adult Literacy XPRIZE competition.
We live in an exciting time of technological change, but that change needs to be thoughtfully leveraged as a tool for enhancing adult education. OTAN stands ready to meet your needs for professional development, whether it’s face-to-face training, online, or through workshops held at California education technology conferences.”
