ACSA Adult Ed Conference

Adult Education: NOT Business as Usual is the theme for the ACSA conference this year, to be held in San Diego at the Doubletree Hotel on September 23-25. "This year’s conference will be different," says ACSA. It will feature a variety of speakers and a strategizing session regarding program revival and survival.

College Transition Summit

Face to Face Workshop

CALPRO will partner with the National College Transition Network (NCTN) to offer two 2-day institutes on models and methods for developing college transition pathway programs and forming partnerships and collaboration to enhance transitions for California’s adult students from basic education to college.

Nominees will have the choice of attending a two-day Institute on either October 28th & 29th (Cohort one) or on October 29th and 30th (Cohort two).

Successful Adult Ed Students to be Honored

Students Succeed Logo

Three adult education learners will be honored at the upcoming ACSA Conference in San Diego. The Students Succeed project features success stories of 175 learners from 90 programs who have reached their life goals and are active in their communities.

The next deadline is Oct 30. Nominate a successful former student today.

FY 2010 Federal Budget Update

On July 30 the Senate Appropriations Committee its version of the FY2010 Labor-HHS-Education Appropriation Bill containing nearly $63.5 billion in discretionary spending for the Education Department. The House of Representatives has also finished work on its version of the bill.

Preliminary WIA, Title II grant awards for 2009-10
The California Department of Education Adult Education Office has announced that preliminary Workforce Investment Act, Title II grant awards for 2009-10 have been calculated and are available for review. Official grant award notifications are in the process of being completed and will be issued soon.
